On May 2nd, the sound of engines roaring echoed through the mountains of Wupo Village, Pingyong Town, Rongjiang County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture. The 2026 Guizhou Cross-Country Rally T3 National Cross-Country Rally kicked off here. Cross-country enthusiasts from all over the country gathered in Rongjiang during the "May Day" holiday to embark on an original "Fast & Furious" experience amidst the Miao and Dong villages.

It is reported that the event, which lasts for 3 days, is divided into two types: T3 and T1. As of now, 135 off-road vehicles, over 400 drivers, and accompanying personnel have participated. The event aims to leverage Guizhou's unique mountainous terrain and original rural tracks, inherit the local sports spirit of Guizhou's "Village Super" and "Village BA", and create a grassroots off-road event that is down-to-earth, distinctive, safe, and highly interactive.

At 10:30 am, as the green light flashed on, the first group of racing cars roared out of the starting line and sped along the track. Dust flew in the forest, water splashed in the river, and obstacles such as camel humps, shell craters, and shallow waters were continuous. The drivers controlled the car precisely and overcame the obstacles steadily, with the rear of the car raising several meters of water spray. The audience cheered, shouted, and the sound of engines intertwined, creating an extremely lively atmosphere on the scene.

According to the on-site staff, the race route winds its way from Wupo Village to Longtang Village, earning the nickname "Wulong Race Track" from the drivers. There are multiple checkpoints along the route, and drivers must ensure that all three vehicles in their team finish the race while competing. Any vehicle falling behind could jeopardize the overall team's performance.

"The track is very exciting. This is the third time I've participated in the 'Cunyue' race. Compared to other traditional rally races, I find this event very interesting. It places more emphasis on teamwork, and the overall experience on the track is more intense," said Wang Junkai, a driver from Hainan Internal Combustion Engine Club.

It's worth mentioning that compared to traditional off-road rally competitions, this T3 qualifying round not only emphasizes speed but also introduces a "catching fish" challenge. After completing two laps of the track, drivers need to get off their vehicles at the designated "fish catching spot" before the finish line to catch fish. Only those who catch fish can get back on their vehicles and proceed to the finish line. In the T3 finals, the challenge will be changed to catching chickens, making it even more interesting.

The inclusion of this segment not only enhances the entertainment value of the event, but also brings the cross-country rally closer to the people, allowing spectators of all ages to experience the joy and lively atmosphere of the competition.

Since 2025, Pingyong Town has seized the development opportunities brought by Guizhou's "Village Super" and has been deeply cultivating the "Village Brand". Taking the "Guizhou Village Cross" off-road race as a breakthrough, it strives to build a high-quality outdoor sports destination. The first two "Village Cross" events have attracted a total of 600 off-road vehicles from all over the country, drawing about 80,000 tourists in person, and generating over 100 million online views across the entire network.

To turn "event traffic" into economic growth, the local authorities have also organized the "Riders into Farmhouses" event. By arranging for riders to eat and stay with local farmers, they not only allow riders to immerse themselves in the local customs and culture, but also bring considerable economic benefits to the farmers.

"During the Spring Festival this year, many drivers even contacted villagers to buy local farm specialties to take back home for the holiday and as gifts," Zhang Xiwei, the first secretary stationed in Longtang Village, said with a smile.

In the future, Pingyong Town will continue to enhance the recognition of the "Guizhou Village Crossing" IP. Based on the improvement of the "venue + crossing, points race + annual race" event system, it will integrate the unique resources along the route and create a "village crossing along-the-route study and tourism belt" with craftsmanship, promoting the deep integration of agriculture, culture, tourism, and sports
